Hi, I’m Alison, an ARDMS certified OBGYN Sonographer with over 10 years of experience caring for women throughout their pregnancy journey. Over the years, I’ve learned that an ultrasound is about so much more than what appears on the screen.
For many patients, walking into an ultrasound room can bring a mixture of excitement, nervousness, fear, and a million questions. You may wonder what’s happening, what the sonographer is looking at, or whether something you’re feeling is normal. Sometimes, you simply need someone to slow down and help you feel comfortable. That has always been important to me.
From the moment my patients enter my room, I want them to feel calm, respected, heard, and cared for. I believe patient care starts before the scan even begins.
As a sonographer, I also understand the importance of knowing the boundaries of my role. Some questions belong with your physician or healthcare provider. At the same time, there are many things within my scope of practice that I can explain, educate you about, and help you better understand. That’s where First Hello comes in.
I created First Hello to help bridge the gap between ultrasound, patient care, and understanding. My goal is to take some of the mystery out of the ultrasound experience and provide approachable, educational information that helps patients feel more informed and prepared.
Whether you’re preparing for your first ultrasound, wondering why your baby isn’t cooperating, trying to understand what happens during a scan, or simply curious about what your sonographer is doing behind the screen, you’re welcome here. Because you deserve to feel like a participant in your care, not just a patient lying on the table.
This space is built from my experience as a sonographer, my passion for patient education, and my belief that a little understanding can go a long way in creating a calmer, more meaningful healthcare experience.
Welcome to First Hello.
